Day 350: Cape Lookout

September 11, 2011

More beach time - a bit windier today. There was great fog rolling down over the hills and out over the ocean. It was just pouring down... really cool to see. Had to wake Jacob from his nap today -that he began at 11am!! Haha... Went to a seafood place - Schooners. Pretty good. Still nothing totally stellar that you would expect in these coastal areas, but.... better than the last joint after camping at Nahalem Bay. Stopped by the Tillamook creamery. Whoa. It's a madhouse. Lots to see, including the 50 flavours of ice cream. Okay, I'm not sure that it's that many but pretty close: Oregon strawberry, Oregon marionberry, mudslide, cookies n' cream, peach, all sorts of chocolate, vanillas, the list goes on. Jacob had his first very own ice cream cone.  Very nice. He picked strawberry. I was totally nervous about it falling off his sugar cone (!) but he made it.

I'm just diggin' in the sand

Day 349: Cape Lookout continued...

September 10, 2011

Fun day! Lots of beach time, relaxing. No nap for the boy, sadly. That made him a bit of a terror during parts of the afternoon but after a beautiful sunset and a little bit of campfire, he told us he was ready for bed. Perfect. Fraser and I had a nice time chatting around the campfire; fires always bring out some good conversation.

Just having fun... not having a fit

Got a little too close...

Where's my beer?

Drinking "like Shilo kitty"

Day 348: Cape Lookout camping trip

September 9, 2011

Lots of errands. Getting ready to go camping!

The drive out  was nice. Jacob didn't have a nap today but was a real trooper the whole way. We camped at Cape Lookout on the beach. We came in as the sun was just setting and it was really gorgeous. Then some heavy fog moved in which was cold but also had a very ethereally beautiful quality. Jacob was, of course, super excited to out of the car and camping and just couldn't contain his energy for awhile.

Day 347

September 8, 2011

I do love being able to go right behind my house and pick blackberries like crazy. That's really fabulous.

Still looking for Shilo kitty but not thinking she's going to turn up :( She was always Ms. Fiesty Pants, thinking she was a cougar in housecat clothes. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she was trying to take on a coyote or something. Just as she would want it, though.

Met up with Brandin downtown at fountain, Jamison Square. Very fun fountain. There are lots of those around. I have to make a little book of all the good places to go so next year I can just pick one easily.

Day 346

September 7, 2011

Hmm....park AND pool this am. Not too bad.

Jacobisms:

When he wants CCR's Down on the Corner song, he'll sing, "War kids on the corner, trying to make some noise."

Today he was playing Connect Four and he told me "It's my turn. Don't put the red in while I'm doing yellow. That's rude." Well, then....

"Tanalon"  You'd never guess this word if it didn't have context - Tylenol.

Day 345

September 6, 2011

hard morning. didn't want to get up. unmotivated. got to the gym, ran into sarah. off to grocery store, marble store, animal shelter. shilo kitty.
crazy brain during nap. tell myself to settle. idea for new blog - live visceral.
fraser home early. Jacob crazy over CCR song - down on the corner. picking blackberries.

This pretty much sums things up some days.

Day 344

September 5, 2011

BBQ at park with some friends this am. That was fun and a good way to feel welcomed back.
Then, a spur of the day dinner at Karen's. Nice.
